INDIA. Jammu: At an Army base camp in Rajouri, Jammu, and Kashmir, three jawans perished in a suicide attack attempt, while two terrorists were shot dead.

Two other jawans were hurt in the incident, and they are now receiving medical care at a nearby army hospital.

After allegedly attempting to sneak into the post at Pargal near Rajouri in the dead of night to carry out a “fidayeen” (suicide) attack, an encounter erupted that resulted in the deaths of two terrorists.

“Someone (terrorists) tried to cross the fence of Army camp at Pargal. Sentry challenged, and exchange of fire took place,” Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Mukesh Singh said.

“Two terrorists trying to sneak into a post in the dark at Pargal in Rajouri were detected. They were engaged by alert troops,” an Army official said. The terrorists have been neutralized, he added

According to the ADGP, more personnel have been dispatched to the Army base, which is about six kilometres from the Darhal police station.

Three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed on Wednesday after a clash with security personnel in the Budgam area.

Following information regarding the presence of terrorists there, the security forces began a cordon-and-search operation at Waterhail in the Khansahib sector of the district.

The search turned into an encounter after the ultras opened fire.

“All the three hiding LeT #terrorists #neutralised. Bodies being retrieved from the site; identification yet to be ascertained. #Incriminating materials, arms & ammunition recovered. A big success for us,” ADGP, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar had tweeted.

Three Lashkar members, including the most wanted man Lateef Rather, were earlier claimed by Kumar to be trapped at the scene of the encounter.

“03 #terrorists of #terror outfit LeT(TRF) including terrorist Lateef Rather trapped in an ongoing #encounter. Terrorist Lateef is involved in several #civilian #killings including Rahul Bhat & Amreen Bhat,” he had tweeted.

Just days before the nation’s 75th Independence Day, security authorities in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama area found an approximately 30-kg improvised explosive device (IED), according to police.

According to Vijay Kumar, Additional Director General of Police in Kashmir, the IED was found following specific information provided by the police.
