UNITED STATES: Avengers: End Game famed directors the Russo Brothers and Bahubali famed filmmaker SS Rajamouli are widely renowned for their trend-setting cinema. Recently their newly released high-octane action features The Gray Man, and RRR has captivated a variety of audiences all over the world.
The prominent filmmakers explored what fascinates audiences in their cinema, and they also discussed their favourite genres in the Netflix-arranged virtual meet.
SS Rajamouli discussed RRR’s massive success in Hollywood
RRR, SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus, gained widespread acclaim. The film claimed second place at The Hollywood Critics Association Midseason Awards 2022. High-profile filmmakers from Hollywood, such as James Gunn and Scott Derrickson, also praised Rajamouli’s work in the film. Ram Charan and Jr NTR’s starring feature emerged as the most viewed Indian film on Netflix. With subtitles in 15 languages, the movie received 47 million hours of watch time.
In the Netflix-arranged virtual meet, SS Rajamouli added, “Yes, I was surprised with the reception from the West. He further stated, “A good story is a good story for everyone, but I didn’t think I could make films for Western sensibilities. I never believed myself. So when it came out on Netflix and people started watching it, and word of mouth started spreading, when the critics started giving out good reviews, yes I was really, really surprised.”
Following the interaction in the virtual meet, The Russo Brothers shared their experience on their Twitter handle. The filmmakers tweeted, “Such an honour getting to meet THE great S.S. Rajamouli…”
Rajamouli replied to the talented filmmakers. He wrote, “The honour and pleasure are mine. It was a great interaction. Looking forward to meet and learn a bit of your craft.”
