NIGERIA. Abuja: In the effort to combat crime and achieve success in the ongoing fight against insurgency in Nigeria, the Nigerian Army through the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruq Yahaya has announced appointments and reshuffling of instructional and senior staff officers across the Nigerian Army formations and units.
Yahaya told President Muhammadu Buhari that it had adopted a “new strategy” to deal with insecurity in the country, and the military announced the transfer of senior officers.
The announcement was made in a statement released by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu on Thursday 28 July.
The Chief of Army Staff has approved the posting and appointment of some senior officers to command, instruction and staff positions across formations and units.
Nwachukwu said the new postings and appointments were made in a bid to reposition the military for operational efficiency.
According to him, “Among those affected by the transfer are some chief staff officers of the army headquarters, commanders of general officers, corps commanders, commanders of training facilities, brigade commanders, and commanding officers.”
The Army spokesman said OC Ajunwa, a Major General, has been transferred from the Nigerian Defense Section in Brasilia to HQ 81 Division as GOC, while the Commander, Nigerian Army Depot, Aminu Chinade, Major General, has been transferred to 2 Division as GOC.
OW Ali, Major General, has been transferred from Headquarters, Army Records, to AHQ as Chief of Administration (Army), while S Muhammed, Major General, has been moved from Defense Headquarters to AHQ as Chief, Army Standards and Evaluation (Army).
The Chief of Army Staff has directed all the newly appointed senior officers to redouble their effort and commitment to duty in tackling the security challenges bedevilling the nation, as they assume their new appointments.
The newly appointed Brigade Commanders are, Brigadier General DH Ndahi, from Nigerian Army Resource Centre to Headquarters 4 Brigade and appointed Commander, Brig Gen FS Etim from Amphibious Training School to Headquarters 6 Brigade and appointed Commander, Brigadier General EA Orakwe from Headquarters 6 Division to Headquarters 19 Brigade and appointed Commander, Brigadier General JO Are from Army Headquarters Department of Army Standards and Evaluation to Headquarters 3 Brigade and appointed Commander, amongst others.
