UNITED STATES: The Russo Brothers‘ directorial The Gray Man recently made its theatrical debut. Amid its premiere day, the multi-starrer ensemble cast has become the film’s highlight. Specifically, Dhanush, the prominent Indian star, has captivated the critics and audience with his action sequences.
Dhanush emerges as the highlight of The Gray Man.
The Gray Man marked Dhanush’s Hollywood debut, and within minutes of his introduction in the trailer, the popular star had enthralled Indian audiences. Recently, in an interview with Collider, Rege Jean Page praised Dhanush, quoting, “The grace and style and badassery of that man, is something to behold and that’s going to be a thunderbolt in the film.” Dhanush co-star Jessica Henwick also praised him, adding, “He has quiet power, and I want that.”
Rege also compared Dhanush to Batman, stating, “If Batman was twice as badass, then he might get halfway to where Dhanush is in this film.”
The Gray Man chronicles the life of a former CIA agent, focusing on the storyline in which his former colleagues are on the hunt for him. The trailer essentially highlighted the fantastic action sequence between Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, which emerged as an exciting element among fans. Dhanush does not fall behind in the race of action; the acclaimed actor’s action sequences featured in promos also served as an attention-grabbing factor.
The multi-starrer cast includes Chris Evans, Ryan Gosling, Dhanush, Ana de Armas, Rege-Jean Page and Jessica Henwick which appears to be the central focus of the picture.The directorial visions of the Russo Brothers add another buzz component that transforms it from the popular source material.
The Gray Man is based on Mark Greaney’s novel of the same name, which was published in 2009. The adaptation of a prominent theme is not the only thing that makes the film stand out. The action thriller is considered to be Netflix’s most expensive film. Before the film’s OTT release on July 22, it opened in theaters on July 15, with early reviews praising the action segments.
Renowned critic Courtney Howard of Variety wrote, “Dhanush’s scenes are short because he enters the picture late, but the sequences are brutal, powerful and piercing, with good narrative weight.He brings together physicality and character – and has a cinematic moment that most other actors/characters don’t. #TheGrayMan.”
