INDIA.KOLKATA: BCCI Chief Sourav Ganguly hits 50, Happy Birthday to the legendary cricketer who left no stone unturned. The pride of Kolkata led the side in Tests and One-Day International (ODI).
His remarkable performance on the field opened doors for many youngsters who aspired to become cricketers, including “captain cool”, MS Dhoni. On or off the field, Sourav’s charisma has been unbeatable, being an iconic Indian skipper of all time. Ganguly geared up his career with the Dream Debut series, 1996. At the Home of Cricket [Lord’s], Ganguly hit the record of making bulk runs in debut innings, scoring 131 runs before going out.
From heading India to one of the most unpredictable wins to his celebration at the end of the 2002 Natwest Series, Sourav played majestically.
This is the golden time for the BCCI chief, as he celebrates his golden jubilee. The most intelligent, energetic and enthusiastic player once took off his shirt in public and waved it in the air to celebrate India’s win. He was later strongly condemned for tarnishing the “gentleman’s game”. Ganguly played a captain’s knock of 111 not out off 114 balls to be the “Man of the Match award”, leading India to its first World Cup final in 20 years.

Mohammed Kaif also took to Twitter to wish Ganguly, “From a fine batsman to an outstanding captain & now leading Indian cricket on the whole—here’s wishing my favourite captain & mentor Sourav Ganguly a very happy birthday.”
