UNITED STATES: Horizon Zero Dawn, the popular PS4 game, is reportedly undergoing a Netflix adaptation. Sony has announced the live-action adaption to Aloy and the machines. The streaming giant has allegedly bought the rights to the action-adventure game, as per the reports from Deadline.
Horizon stands out as a fantastic game with a captivating premise
The narration of Horizon is set in a post-apocalyptic world dominated by Titan-sized machine beasts, some of which serve as benefactors to humanity. In contrast, others thrive on the fear of human beings residing in the form of Tribes. Aloy, an outcast, embarks on a journey across the mysterious metal world, unraveling the mystery contained within the machines to reclaim her place among the clans.
Developed by Guerrilla Games, Horizon became a gaming phenomenon after its release in 2017. Zero Dawn received multiple gaming awards, including a nomination for Game of the Year, for its fantastical visuals and pure cinematic story mode.
Across Aloy, Horizon lets the player explore the post-apocalyptic metal world. The fluid gaming mechanics connect the player experience in the gorgeous yet terrifying environment of Zero Dawn as the story proceeds.
The open-world phenomenon immerses the player in a fascinating adventure. Our gaming trip through the plot comprises weapon upgrades ranging from a modest spear to conquering the giant gigantic machine; the game embraces everything beautifully.
Aside from Horizon, dozens of live-action mixes are added to the list
The great success of Horizon spawned the lore of the metal world, which got expanded through several comic books. Horizon Forbidden West, a direct sequel to the first section, was released a few months earlier. Aloy discovers a more lethal and strange contraption in Forbidden West, which adds another chapter to her story.
Horizon Zero Dawn is the latest video game adaptation officially announced on Netflix. HBO is also developing a live-action rendition of The Last of Us, starring Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie. Aside from Zero Dawn, Sony has unleashed the Ghost of Sparta with the Amazon Prime Video’s God of War adaptation.
Even though fans are excited for the live-action version of Horizon, Hollywood is still haunted by the fabled video game curse. There are a lot of popular game franchises that have terrible film adaptations. Resident Evil game can be considered one out of many. The game had a gripping story, but in the movies, the story is nothing more than Mila Jovovich’s action sequences. In a nutshell, there are only a handful of adequately developed game adaptations. Sonic the Hedgehog film series can be considered one that nailed the problematic task of effective adaptation.
So, aside from the dreaded video game jinx, let’s hope for a genuine Horizon adaptation. If the series succeeds in reaching ideal elements, it has the potential to become a series that we will remember for the rest of our lives.
