Raza Academy, a Sunni Barelvi organisation of Indian Sunni Muslims, filed the FIR after receiving a complaint.

During a debate on the Gyanvapi dispute, Sharma argued that while Muslims mocked Hinduism by calling the unearthed ‘Shivling’ a fountain, there were certain assertions in their holy literature that anyone could criticise as well.
