INDIA: The Supreme Court will hear the case contesting Varanasi’s Gynavapi Mosque survey on Tuesday.
The plea filed by the Anjuman Masjid Committee against the Varanasi Court’s judgement requiring the survey of the Gyanvapi mosque will be heard by a bench chaired by Justice DY Chandrachud.
Last Friday, the Supreme Court refused to grant an interim status quo order on the poll but decided to examine listing a Muslim party’s complaint against it.
The court-ordered videography assessment of the Gyanvapi Masjid complex, which had been ongoing for the third day, ended on Monday amid tight security. The survey of the mosque complex began around 8:00 a.m. and ended about 10:15 a.m.
According to lawyer Vishnu Jain, a ‘shivling’ was discovered within the well used for the ‘wuzu,’ who claimed “a significant success for Hindu side.”
According to the lawyer, the area where the shivling was discovered will be sealed. The CRPF will be in charge of the area’s security.
The lawyer told News18 earlier today that the survey has been completed and that there are no plans to request an extension. He went on to say that the Hindu side was satisfied because “significant evidence” had been acquired.
The Varanasi Court has ordered that a complete survey report be submitted on Tuesday.
“The court commission has completed the survey. The report will be submitted in the court. Both sides followed the court rules,” Varanasi District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma said.
However, when asked about the conclusions, the district magistrate stated that he could not reveal the findings of the court commission.
The mosque is next to the famous Kashi Vishwanath temple. A group of women has petitioned the local court for permission to worship daily before the idols on the mosque’s exterior walls.
The examination, which included all three domes and the main mosque area, where the namaz is recited, ended peacefully Sunday. According to officials, the majority of the poll was completed on the second day. Around 65 percent of the survey was finished by Sunday.
The activities at the mosque complex were conducted by a survey team led by court-appointed Commissioners and supported by lawyers from both parties, police officials, and the District Magistrate.
The mosque is near the well-known Kashi Vishwanath temple.
On the third day of the survey, the detailing of the surveyed areas was done. The detailing will be done in areas including the basement in possession of the Vyas family. According to the family, the fourth basement was used to store poles and other puja-related items at the time.
On Vaishakh Purnima today, Commissioner of Police in Varanasi, Satish Ganesh, claimed that adequate plans to manage the massive inflow of worshippers to Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
Meanwhile, at 2 p.m. on Monday, the Allahabad High Court will hear the case of the Central Sunni Waqf Board and the Intazamiya Committee. The matter has been heard in the High Court since last year, and the Muslim side has asked the court in Varanasi to dismiss the Hindu side’s plea.
The Intazamia committee has filed a Supreme Court petition attempting to halt the ongoing survey.
Meanwhile, two applications have been filed in a Mathura court requesting the appointment of an attorney commissioner to visit the Shahi Idgah Mosque, which is adjacent to Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi, to authenticate the presence of Hindu items and old religious inscriptions.
