INDIA: Actor-producer Sohail Khan and designer Seema Khan filed for divorce on May 13. They were spotted leaving the family court in Mumbai on Friday.
According to the media reports, the couple has been sparking separation rumours for some time now. The couple got married in 1998. They have two sons: Nirvan and Yohan (through surrogacy).
Seema Khan appeared in the show ‘The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives,’ where the couple was seen living apart. Calling her marriage “unconventional,” she said, “I’ll just say this much, because it’s out there,” that whatever you see on the show is the entire truth. All I have to say about it is what it is.”
“It’s just that sometimes as you get older, your relationships meander and go in different places,” Seema Khan said on the show about the rumours surrounding the marriage.
“I make no apologies because we are content, and my children are content. Sohail and I are not married in the traditional sense, but we are a family. We work as a team. At the end of the day, it’s about him and me and our kids,” she had remarked.
Khan’s career
Khan began his career as a film producer and director, directing ‘Auzaar’, an action thriller starring his brother Salman and actor Sanjay Kapoor, in 1997. Under his previous banner, “G.S. Entertainment,” he directed his brother Salman Khan’s film ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’ (1998). In 1999, he directed ‘Hello Brother’.
‘Maine Dil Tujhko Diya,’ which he wrote, produced, directed, and acted in, was an average box office success in 2002. The actor then went on to star in a few more films, none of which were very well received. ‘Main Pyaar Kyun Kiya?’ was his first big hit in which he co-starred alongside his brother Salman Khan.
He also created, produced, and starred in the multi-starrer movie ‘Fight Club – Members Only’, which again bombed at the box office. In 2006, he starred in the boxing drama Aryan, for which he received positive reviews. In 2007, he produced another film, ‘Partner’, starring his brother Salman Khan and Govinda.
In January 2014, he returned to directing with the film ‘Jai Ho’, which starred Salman Khan and received mixed reviews. He directed ‘Freaky Ali’ in 2016, which starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his brother Arbaaz in supporting roles. After seven years away from acting, he returned in 2017 to star with brother Salman in ‘Tubelight’.
