UNITED STATES: As the release date for Moon Knight approaches, Marvel Studios has published an official clip called “Contact Lens.” Previously, a sneak peek and a Big Game Spot Tv commercial were published, giving a closer look at this famed anti-hero vigilante.
Khonsu haunts Marc in the infamous Elevator scene in Moon Knight
The scene starts with Oscar Isaac portraying Marc Specter, one of his many identities. The clip features an extended version of the Elevator scene from the trailer. A figure in a white coat with a bird-like skull can be seen with his face hovering higher than the rest of his body. This proves that it is none other than Khonsu, the Egyptian Moon God.
Khonsu is the sole source of Moon Knight’s abilities in the comics. His name means “wanderer,” specifically “night traveller.” If we look closely, a sapphire crescent, a moon-shaped weapon, may be seen in his hand. In Marvel comics, this is one of the most formidable weapons.
Then we see from Marc’s perspective how slowly and intensely Khonsu is approaching him. Marc is forced to hide in the elevator’s corner by his terrified and confused demeanour. However, when the Khonsu suddenly moves closer to him with a cut of the elevator door scene, Marc sees an old lady instead of Khonsu. The lady looks at him in a perplexed manner.
Marc clarifies that he is searching for his lost contact lens to defuse the situation. The elevator then arrives at its destination floor, and the lady departs. Marc looks at the bottom again, this time in a daze, and it’s the fifth floor, as the numbering indicates. The lady also mentions “Claire,” who could be Marc’s love interest. As he turns towards the elevator, we get a quick closer shot of Khonsu, and for Marc, it’s a jump scare that will haunt him throughout the series.
This entire scenario has a slight horror vibe, which will be fascinating to witness. We can see that Marvel is now using a subtle horror theme in their films. In the Multiverse of Madness, Doctor Strange is directed by Sam Raimi, who is known for his horror films and will incorporate some of his dark and horror elements into the upcoming movie.
