Blood Donation Camps Held in Mumbai to Honor Late Singer Lata Mangeshkar

INDIA. Mumbai: The Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry (CREDAI-MCHI) in Mumbai has paid tribute to late singer Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar by organizing blood donation camps at five railway stations.

On Wednesday, the MCHI President Boman Irani and Vice-President Sukhraj Nahar launched a two-day blood donation drive.

Blood donation camps

The camps were organised by different office bearers. Dr. Gautam Bansal of Bombay Hospital inaugurated the camp at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Railway Terminus in South Mumbai, while Rajnikant Ajmera, Past President, CREDAI-MCHI, and Pritam Chivukula, Treasurer, CREDAI-MCHI, inaugurated the camp at Dadar railway station in South Central Mumbai.

The camp at Bandra railway station in North West Mumbai was inaugurated by Harshul Savla, Special Project Coordinator, CREDAI-MCHI. Similarly, the camp at Andheri station in North West Mumbai was inaugurated by Nayan Shah, Past President, CREDAI-MCHI. Also, the camp at Ghatkopar railway station in North East Mumbai was inaugurated by Shilpin Tater, Member, CREDAI-MCHI.

At the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, MCHI President Boman Irani himself donated blood. “As a tribute to late Lata Didi, this is a grateful event for Mumbai because the collected blood will give life to many needy people,” Irani said in his speech.

“The blood collected during this campaign will be used to help needy people fighting for their lives in Mumbai’s various hospitals,” he added.

“Every minute there is a requirement of blood to some or other hospitalized patient. It may be a surgery or road accident or a cancer patient or a newborn baby needing blood,” he added.

“Your one donation of blood can save a life. Let us donate and take an oath that nobody should die due to the non-availability of blood,” Irani urged the Mumbaikars.

MCHI Vice President Sukhraj Nahar said that no sick or injured should die due to lack of blood, this will be a true tribute to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar.

A large number of people enthusiastically participated in this drive at CSMT, Dadar, Bandra, Andheri, and Ghatkopar railway stations. The drive has been organized in association with the Rail Kamgar Sena 

CREDAI-MCHI, the representative body of the construction industry, has started this campaign in an attempt to overcome problems caused by the shortage of blood in city hospitals.

Every year many sick and injured people are killed due to lack of availability of blood. MCHI has been working selflessly to serve the people. The organization’s latest campaign of blood donation is being considered as an innovative effort.
