AUSTRALIA: Adelaide Strikers defeats Melbourne Renegades by 49 runs in a low-scoring encounter. After winning this match Adelaide Strikers jumps to the third spot in the Big Bash League points table. In this match after winning the toss, Adelaide Strikers decided to bat first.

Adelaide Strikers openers gave them a good start

Adelaide Strikers opening batsmen Matthew Short started his innings with a bang. Matthew Short along with his opening partner Jake Weatherald added 34 runs in 3 overs.

Once again Zahir Khan gave Melbourne Renegades the breakthrough that they needed. Zahir Khan dismissed both the openers in quick successions and Adelaide Strikers were 50/2 after 4.3 overs where Matthew Short scored 32 off 17 deliveries which included 1 four and 3 sixes whereas Weatherald scored 11 runs off 8 deliveries which included 2 fours.

After the fall of 2 wickets, Harry Nielsen and Jonathan Wells stitched 31 runs partnership. Harry Nielsen got out after scoring 14 off 15 deliveries. Adelaide Strikers failed to build a solid partnership and they kept losing wickets and losing the momentum.

Jonathan Wells scored 37 runs off 30 deliveries which included 2 sixes and there were some quick runs down the order from Rashid Khan (13) and George Garton (19) which helped Adelaide Strikers post a total of 149/10 in 19 overs.

Kane Richardson took 4 wickets

For Melbourne Renegades, Kane Richardson bowled brilliantly as he picked up 4 wickets, Reece Topley took 3 wickets, Zahir Khan took 2 wickets, and James Pattinson took 1 wicket.

Melbourne Renegades started their innings cautiously. Mackenzie Harvey scored 19 off 12 deliveries which included 3 fours whereas Sam Harper was having a little trouble managing his strike rate. The duo added 39 runs for the opening wicket.

Just when the things were looking good for Mackenzie Harvey got run out and after that Renegades lost the wicket of James Seymour (10) and Renegades was 59/2 after 8.2 overs.

Sam Harper scored 33 runs off 31 deliveries which included 1 four and 1 six. Shortly after the departure of Sam Harper, Mohammad Nabi also got out after scoring just 12 runs and Renegades were 80/4 after 12.4 overs.

Melbourne Renegades sudden collapse

After the fall of 4 wickets, Melbourne Renegades innings fell like a deck of cards as they lost 6 wickets for just 20 runs and Renegades got bundled out for 100 runs in 18.4 overs.

For Adelaide Strikers, Wes Agar took 3 wickets, Rashid Khan and Daniel Worrall took 2 wickets while Peter Siddle and George Garton took 1 wicket each.
