The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the centre, Mariam Masha, affirmed that the centre has a total number of 525 children; 337 boys and 188 girls.

“The centre currently has 472 pupils at the Primary level and 26 at the Secondary level”, Masha added.

Masha also said that the secondary school pupils took lessons in coding and programming, as well as web design and programming respectively.

“The centre is a place to nurture, empower and renew our children and I believe right here before us, is proof that the Northeast Children’s Trust can deliver on that mandate”, Masha acknowledged.

The Vice-Chairman of the centre, Professor Hauwa Biu implored the students not to forget all the lessons they have learnt at the Centre but should put them into practice.

“As you all graduate to the secondary classes, Always take care of one another as you are all seen as one big family and group of people who will grow, impact and achieve things together and are willing to support one another”, Biu said.

The Northeast Children’s Trust Fund Center was set up by the federal government of Nigeria in 2019 to cater for children affected by the insurgency in the region.

However, the Borno state government has said that approximately 54,000 children were orphaned in the past 12 years of the persistent Boko Haram fight.
