INDIA: Flying cars, robot-owned restaurants, AI-powered world are some things that we all have imagined seeing in our future. Like many futuristic visions, flying cars have been highly anticipated for years, but slow in coming true. Several tech companies and startups have been working to make this a reality. Interestingly, it seems that India is likely to witness the introduction of flying cars soon.
As per the reports, Civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that he met a team from Vinata AeroMobility to work on this. It is expected to become Asia’s first hybrid flying car.
In an open statement, Scindia said, “Once this concept model becomes reality, flying cars would be used for transporting people and cargo. Also, the flying cars would be used for providing medical emergency services.”
Flying cars all set to rule Indian skies
According to the car manufacturer, this fully autonomous hybrid-electric VTOL vehicle will be capable of accomodating two passengers. The car will be powered by a co-axial quad-rotor system that draws energy from eight BLDC motors. Each motor will come with eight fixed pitch propellers.
The vehicle will use biofuel for powering the motors.
This car can take off with a maximum weight of 1,300 kg and can fly up to 60 minutes at a top speed of 120 km/h. In terms of range, the flying car can travel up to 100 km without refueling. The car can attain a maximum height of 3,000 ft from ground level.
The manufacturer claims that in case one rotor of the car fails, other worker motors and propellers can safely land the aircraft.
With the city roads becoming increasingly congested, the car concept could be a breakthrough for urban transportation. Many urban transportation experts have been advocating for such possibilities for a long time.

The flying cars will be capable of running on roads and flying in the sky. This would result in more convenience for the transportation sector with reduced time and lower congestion on roads as well. Meanwhile, American technology company Uber has been contemplating the idea of introducing a flying car fleet for the future transport system.
