Ciryl Gane Wins The Interim Heavyweight Title At UFC 265

UNITED STATES: Ciryl Gane defeats Derrick Lewis via 3rd round TKO to win the UFC Interim heavyweight Title at UFC 265. The Undefeated Ciryl Gane will now fight the current UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.

This main event fight had blockbuster written all over it as the undefeated Ciryl Gane was fighting against one of the most dangerous heavyweights in the current UFC roster Derrick Lewis. Everyone was thinking that even if Gane wins the first 2 or 3 rounds but can he handle the power of the ‘Black Beast’ Derrick Lewis. But Ciryl Gane showed everyone that why he is undefeated as he won the first 2 rounds quite easily and didn’t take any damage from Lewis. Gane Stayed on the outside and he was throwing hard leg kicks and goods jabs and he was staying away from the immense power of Lewis. At 4 mins and 11 secs of round no.3, Gane TKO’d Lewis by a big uppercut followed by the flurry of power punches. Gane landed 98 significant strikes as compared to Derrick Lewis’s 16 significant strikes.

Vicente Luque vs Michael Chiesa

No.9 ranked welterweight Vicente Luque defeated No.7 ranked welterweight Michael Chiesa via submission in the very first round of the fight. Earlier in the fight, Chiesa tried to attempt a submission but Luque countered it and as both fighters were on the ground Luque grabbed onto his signature D’arce choke and Chiesa was forced to tap out at 3 mins and 25 secs of round 1. After defeating Chiesa, Luque called out the current UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Luque said that, “He (Kamaru Usman) asked the welterweights to show something. I think I’ve been showing. I think Kamaru after you get past Colby, I think it’s our time. Let’s go.” Replying to this call out of Luque, Kamaru Usman tweeted that, ” You looked great my man we might be dancing soon”.

Jose Aldo vs Pedro Munhoz

The UFC future Hall of Famer, Jose Aldo defeated Pedro Munhoz via unanimous decision (30-27) in the co-main event of UFC 265. Aldo was looking composed as he stayed on the outside and looked to counter the kicks and punches of Munhoz. Aldo picked up some pace at the start of the second round. Aldo was hitting some good body shots and jabs while Munhoz was trying low kicks and he was punching from the inside.

At the start of the 3rd round, both came out aggressively. Aldo was hitting hard while avoiding damage from the shots of Munhoz. After the end of 3 rounds, Aldo was adjudged the winner via unanimous decision. After the fight, Aldo said that he would love to fight for the title and he wants to win the featherweight title again.
