A Lady Manager Killed, Cashier Injured As Two Men Barge Into ICICI Bank To Loot Cash And Gold, The Former Employee Held

INDIA. Mumbai: In a shocking incident a lady manager of ICICI bank in Virar near Mumbai, was killed and the lady cashier was grievously injured, when they gave a brave fight to two persons attempting to loot the cash and gold, brandishing a razor on Thursday night.

The Assistant Manager Yogita-Vartak-Chowdhary (34) and the cashier Shraddha Devrukhkar (32) of the ICICI bank located at Manwel Pada, Virar East, about 63 km from Mumbai, were counting the cash. The bank was half-shuttered and just two women employees were inside the bank. The other bank staffers had left by 7 pm.

At about 7.45 pm the former manager of the bank Anil Dubey entered the bank with one accomplice and headed straight to the locker. They threatened the women employees with dire consequences. When Chowdhary and Devrukhkar resisted, Dubey and his accomplice slashed them on the neck, chest, and shoulder with razors. They escaped with two bags containing gold and cash.

The women’s scrams alerted passerby on busy road. Hearing their screams, the residents chased the duo and caught Anil Dubey, while his accomplice managed to escape. Both the injured employees were rushed to the nearby Sanjeevani Hospital. However, Chowdhary was declared dead before admission, while Devrukhkar was admitted to the hospital.The incident sent shock waves in the area and the police stepped up vigil.

Dubey is an ex-employee of the bank and worked for 15 years, and now he is stated to be working as a manager of Axis Bank in Naigaon branch, in the neighborhood of Vasai-Virar city. The first information report (FIR) has been filed and a manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding accused.
