United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi. Senior officials from the Ministry of Human Resources & Emiratization recently visited Microsoft’s offices to gather insights and understand progress of the Microsoft Tomoh program launched in 2020 by H.E. Nasser bin Thani Juma Al Hamli, Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization. The program’s mission is to ‘accelerate Emirati employability and economic impact through a set initiative including direct employment, digital skilling and social impact programs’, making a new generation of Emiratis fit for the jobs and economy of the future.
A special delegation from the Ministry, headed by HE. Nasser Abdullah bin Kherbash, Undersecretary for Emiratization and HE. Dr. Farida Abdulla Al Ali, Assistant Undersecretary of National Human Resources Employment, visited Microsoft to meet Tomoh graduates and discuss the government’s skilling and Emiratization ambitions in further depth.
“UAE’s Emiratization effort aims to increase the employment opportunities for local talent in the country and ensures that UAE nationals are active participants in the economic growth story,” said HE. Nasser Abdullah bin Kherbash. “Strategic partnerships like the one with Microsoft enable Emirati youth with adequate skillsets and opportunities within the company to excel in the field of technology. The Tomoh program provides new employees with a smooth onboarding process, as well as training, and skills development – making them future ready.”
Since the program’s launch in June 2020, a number of Emirati graduates successfully joined the graduate trainee program, each gaining several certifications in a broad range of subjects, from soft and professional skills trainings to technical certifications, which will serve them well as they embark on their professional journeys and securing full time employment with Microsoft.
Looking to the future, the new intake of graduates who started their journey with Tomoh in January, are predominantly female and include interns. In addition to meeting a direct training need, the program has recently been extended to not only employ and train young Emiratis, but also support small and medium Emirati businesses.

He also added, “The Ministry of Human Resource & Emiratization is aligned with the UAE’s vision to become a knowledge-based economy by equipping Emirati youth with skillsets to drive digital transformation and enhance the country’s global competitiveness.”

The Tomoh program aims to promote lifelong learning, economic development and job creation across the country and wider region.
