INDIA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Education have decided to postpone the CBSE class 12 exams and cancel the class 10 board exams.
The decision was taken after lakhs of students, parents, and teachers across India urged the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to cancel or postpone the board exams. According to the reports, for CBSE class 12 boards, the situation will be reviewed on June 1.
On the other hand, for CBSE class 10 students, the results will be prepared based on an “objective criterion” that will be developed by the Board. If a student isn’t satisfied with the allocated marks, then they will be allowed to give their exams whenever the conditions are conducive to conduct the exams.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were among those who had urged the center to cancel the exams to prevent millions of students from being exposed to infection.
Arvind Kejriwal, pointing to the alarming rise in virus cases in Delhi, said on Tuesday, “Six lakh students in the city will appear for board exams. One lakh teachers will be on duty. Conducting board exams can lead to the large-scale spread of coronavirus… alternative methods of assessment can be explored. Students can be promoted based on either online exams or internal assessments. The board exams should be canceled.”
Earlier this week, the Ministry of Education and CBSE also held a meeting amid the rising demand for cancellation on board exams.
