NIGER: The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) has built and handed over three primary health centers to the Niger State government in a bid to boost the health indices of the people in the state.
The primary health care centers are located in Bobi Grazing Reserve in Mariga Local Government, Tudun Wada, Gabas ward in Kontagora and Yangalu in Magama local government of Niger State.
The state Commissioner for Health and Hospital Services, Dr. Muhammad Makusidi has received the health centers on behalf of the State Government.
He said that the government would utilize the health centers for the welfare of the people in the state.
Primary health care centers
Primary healthcare centers are developed to be the first point of call for patients in rural areas, a development that would bridge the gap of healthcare to the populace.
In Niger state, the state government has been renovating the primary healthcare centers in the state and is working towards ensuring that these centers are equipped with drugs and consumables.
The primary health care centers treat all types of diseases but do not carry out surgeries or handle complex cases.
The Niger State Commissioner for Health urged the people to take ownership of the health centers by ensuring that it is properly utilized.
He also asked his staff to be up-to-date. He also stated that he will not hesitate to report any defaulting staff who abscond from duty so that proper sanction can be taken.

Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), Director-General, Abdullahi Baba Arah, during his remarks said that his agency is supporting the efforts of the state government in the areas of health, education, provision of water across the state.
He added that the project is meant to provide comprehensive primary healthcare centers for the people of Niger state.
