INDIA: Just a day before the Budget Session 2021-22 of Parliament, PM Narendar Modi shared his thoughts with the people of India on his monthly radio program, ‘Mann Ki Baat’. It was the 73rd episode of the monthly radio program and the first in 2021.

While highlighting how fast the first month of 2021 has passed, PM Modi felt sad and hurt as he mentioned the violence that took place on Republic Day 2021 when farmers agitating against the new farm reforms did not follow the prearranged route and broke barricades to enter Delhi, clashed with police and vandalised property and after entering the Red Fort unfurled their flags from its ramparts. He said that the nation was shocked to witness the insult of the tricolor on January 26.

It’s important to note here that yesterday PM Modi had told leaders of various political parties that his government’s offer on agriculture laws made to protesting farmers ‘still stands’ and it was a ‘phone call away’ for talks. The next round of talks between the farmers and the Centre is scheduled for February 2.

He talked about Padma awardees and asked Indians to take inspiration from them, and also hailed that Indian cricket team’s victory. PM Modi said, “This month, we got good news from the cricket pitch, as the Indian team gloriously won the series in Australia. Our team’s hard work and teamwork were inspiring.”

PM proudly hailed India’s Coronavirus Inoculation Drive, and said, “We are not only running the world’s biggest vaccination drive but we are also the fastest in vaccinating our citizens. India has vaccinated 30 lakh, corona warriors, in 15 days.” He added that India developed ‘Aatmanirbharta’ during the coronavirus crisis.

“India is Self-reliant in Field of Vaccines. India is able to help others because India today is self-reliant in the field of medicines and vaccines,” said PM Narendra Modi.

He called upon all the countrymen, especially young friends, to write about India’s freedom fighters, events associated with freedom struggle from their areas. He said, “Now that India is going to celebrate 75 years of its independence, your writings will be an ideal tribute to the heroes of the freedom movement.”

Among others, he mentioned about Government’s commitment to:

  • Modernising farming,
  • Observing Road Safety Month from January 18 to February 17,
  • The special gesture of the Chilean Congress has given to Yoga by declaring 4th November as National Yoga Day,
  • Make in India and people’s support for ‘Vocal for Local’,
  • Benefits of FASTag for highway users citing how it has reduced congestion at toll plazas, and
  • Praised all women pilot flight to San Francisco by four Indian women pilots.
