INDIA: Amidst the hullabaloo of the Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani starrer Lakshmi, a film that went unnoticed is Rupesh Kumar Singh-directed Bhootaha, based on a screenplay by Prithviraj Oberoi. An interesting experiment in horror, Bhootaha is a single character film starring Jyoti Tripathi. The film is produced by Mukesh Kumar Singh and Rupesh Kumar Singh under the banner of Yellow Flames Entertainment.

As evident from the film’s trailer, Bhootaha totally rests on the shoulder of its actor Jyoti Tripathi who features in each and every frame of the film throughout its run time of 100 minutes. Such roles can be physically exhausting as the actor is required to use the space to one’s advantage while maintaining a high level of energy throughout, throwing oneself from one corner to another, running from pillar to post, exuding fear and terror in the process. And Tripathi seems up to the task. For, she really seems to be in the zone, going through an entire gamut of emotions as per the demands of her challenging character.
It hasn’t been an easy journey for Tripathi and finally with Bhootaha she seems to have announced her arrival. “I was born in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh and have been in Mumbai since last 5 years. I did my MA in Hindi from Mumbai University. In 2017, I wrote a book titled ‘Palak mein aakash’ dedicated to our soldiers. I made my acting debut with the serial ‘Paramavatar Srikrishna’. ‘Bhootaha’ is the big break I had been looking for. I will forever be grateful to the God, my parents and the director of this film, Rupesh Sir,” says Tripathi.
