Maharashtra Directorate Adjudged Best in Flying at All India Vasusainik Camp in Bengaluru

INDIA. Mumbai: The Maharashtra directorate team, comprising NCC Air Wing cadets from Nagpur, Mumbai, and Pune, achieved great success in various competitions and was recognized as the Best in flying at the All India Vasusainik Camp (AIVSC) held in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The AIVSC is the most prestigious camp for Air Wing Cadets, where teams from all seventeen directorates across the country compete intensely in disciplines like flying, firing, drill, tent pitching, and aeromodeling during the twelve-day camp.

The Maharashtra team included 38 cadets from the three Air Wing units. During the camp, they won trophies and medals in various events, excelling particularly in flying and earning the title of the best in flying in the country at the camp held from September 23 to October 4.

Additionally, the directorate secured the runners-up trophy in the best directorate competition. Beyond team events, individual cadets also performed remarkably well. Cadet Sameera Dhondarikar from Nagpur won the silver medal in the best pilot competition for girls.

Cadet Rohit Chauhan from Mumbai won the gold medal in the 0.22 firing category. Cadet Anushka Deshmukh from Pune won the Bronze medal in the 0.22 firing competition and also secured the bronze in Health and Hygiene.

Cadet Aadish Purohit won a silver medal for his performance in Health and Hygiene.

The Nagpur Group of the National Cadet Corps was entrusted with the responsibility of selecting, training, and leading the team. The cadets received training from officers and staff from Nagpur and Mumbai.

Similarly, the Cadets of No. 2 Haryana Air Squadron NCC Karnal won the gold medal in static aeromodeling, and the radio power aeromodeling team won a silver medal. The 2 Haryana Air Squadron cadets NCC Karnal, representing the teams of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh Directorate, secured the line area trophy and also won gold and silver medals in arrow modeling.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra Governor, Ramesh Bais, presided over the 91st Air Force Day Celebrations organized by Maritime Air Operations of the Indian Air Force (IAF) at United Services Club, Navy Nagar in Mumbai on Saturday, October 07.

Flag Officer Commanding in Chief of Western Naval Command Vice Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, Air Officer Commanding Maritime Air Operations Air Vice Marshal Rajat Mohan, veterans, serving officers, and their family members attended the function.

In his speech, the Governor praised the IAF for being well-equipped to meet external challenges and highlighted the increasing self-reliance of India’s defense forces in defense production. He saluted the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of all air warriors on the occasion of the 91st Air Force Day Celebrations.

The Governor also emphasized the IAF’s role in providing assistance during natural calamities and commended the recruitment of women as “Agniveers.”

He urged the new generation to emulate virtues such as patriotism, dedication, and sacrifice from the IAF.
