UNITED KINGDOM: Kalvakuntla Kavitha, the leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), said that the Women’s Reservation Bill doesn’t include OBC women, adding that “we will continue the fight until they are included” during her two-day visit to the United Kingdom.
As one of the prominent advocates for enhancing women’s involvement in India’s political and democratic systems, MLC Kavitha was invited by the London-based Indian diaspora think tank “Bridge India.”
Regarding the event, BRS leader shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, saying, “Celebrating a historic moment at the @BridgeIndiaOrg Event in Central Hall, Westminister, as India passes the Nari Shakti Vandhan Abhyan, a monumental step towards gender equality. Reflecting on the journey, acknowledging biases, and emphasizing the importance of women in shaping the future, this milestone is a call for global unity in empowering women.”
During his Friday visit to the Ambedkar Museum in London, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha highlighted that only Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao can fulfil the goals of Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Throughout her visit, Kavitha engaged in discussions with members of the Indian diaspora, engaged in joint ventures, and participated in events that fostered cultural exchange between India and the UK.
Pankaj Sham Kumar, the Joint Secretary of the Federation of Ambedkarite and Buddhist Organisations UK, also spoke at the event to acknowledge the MLC’s visit and express backing for initiatives aimed at advancing Babasaheb Ambedkar’s philosophy.
“I was very happy to know that when the formation of the Telangana state was happening then, in 2012, she (Kavitha) sat on a dharna demanding Baba Saheb’s statue in the Telangana assembly, and later when the state was formed that statue was installed. It gives me great pleasure, on behalf of the Federation of Ambedkarite and Buddhist Organisations UK to welcome you,” he said.
MLC Kavitha’s two-day schedule comprises meetings with the Indian diaspora, interactions with students, and discussions about collaborative projects. On the second day of her visit, she will participate in a roundtable conversation with a group of NISAU students. Throughout her stay in London, she will be involved in various activities and engagements.
