RUSSIA/UKRAINE: Residents in Crimea reported fatalities, explosions, and road closures on Friday, following Ukraine’s GUR military intelligence agency’s claim of a Ukrainian drone attack on a Russian military installation.
Early on Friday, Russia recorded one of the most well-organized Ukrainian air strikes on territory under its control, but claimed air defence systems shot down all 42 drones assaulting Crimea before they could reach their targets.
Ukrainian intelligence officials claim that the 126th Coastal Defence Brigade of Russia was targeted in Perevalnoye, a town over 200 kilometres from Ukrainian-controlled territory.
According to the US, it supports Ukrainian attacks on Russian military targets in the Black Sea following Moscow’s 2014 capture of Crimea and its declaration as part of Russia.
Kyrylo Budanov, Ukraine’s military intelligence commander, said of Friday’s strike that people must remember and trust that Ukraine’s victory and their liberation are not far away, not only on the Ukrainian mainland but also in Crimea.
Residents in Perevalnoye reported hearing explosions from the military base and listed casualties in posts on the Telegram messaging app.
Two people died at a shooting range, with one in critical condition. Abdul Has, a camouflaged man, claimed the information. Vlad the Local reported one or two deaths.
Julia Julia asked about the locked gate in a military town. Lis, another homeowner, urged people to keep their information private.
Residents of Perevalnoye, I strongly advise you not to describe what happened and how it happened in this post, Lis said. “With that, we aid them in future fire direction.”
