INDIA: As India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission prepares for a historic landing on the Moon’s south pole, popular actor Prakash Raj’s tweet has sparked controversy on social media.
Prakash Raj shared a cartoon depicting a man pouring tea, humorously referring to it as the “first picture coming from the Moon.” However, many users interpreted this as mockery of the mission, and criticism ensued.
Several users accused Prakash Raj of disrespecting the mission and its scientists by allegedly using it as a platform to criticize Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Some expressed disappointment in Raj’s supposed political bias overshadowing his respect for the mission’s significance.
Comedian Appurv Gupta responded to Raj’s tweet, highlighting the distinction between expressing political views and criticizing one’s own country.
Many others echoed similar sentiments, urging Raj to show respect for the scientists’ hard work and the mission’s importance.
Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram Lander is a pivotal undertaking for India, aiming to achieve a soft landing on the lunar south pole. The mission is a follow-up to Chandrayaan-2, which attempted a soft landing four years ago but faced challenges in the final stages.
Success in this endeavor would place India alongside nations like the United States, China, and the former Soviet Union, which have accomplished lunar landings.
While India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission advances, Russia’s recent moon mission, Luna-25, unfortunately encountered failure during its landing attempt on the lunar south pole.
The mission holds immense significance for India and the global space community, underscoring the achievements and advancements in space exploration.
