INDIA: In an upcoming Test series between India and West Indies, cricket fans are in for a treat as Virat Kohli prepares to join the legendary Sachin Tendulkar in a unique list of players. Kohli is set to face off against Tagenarine Chanderpaul, the son of former West Indian batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul, which will mark a significant moment in the Indian cricketer’s career.

As India begins their new World Test Championship cycle, the two-match series in the Caribbean holds great importance for the team, particularly after their disappointment in the 2023 WTC Final loss against Australia. Kohli, who will be a key player in the series, will also be returning to the place where he made his Test debut for India 12 years ago.

Back then, a young Kohli went up against the formidable Shivnarine Chanderpaul, who posed a constant threat to the Indian team. Now, fate has brought him face-to-face with Chanderpaul’s talented son, Tagenarine. This encounter will allow Kohli to join the elite club of players who have played against a father-son duo in international cricket, with Tendulkar being the only other player to achieve this feat.

Sachin Tendulkar accomplished this unique milestone when he faced Geoff Marsh in Australia during the 1992 series. He then had the opportunity to play against Marsh’s son, Shaun Marsh, during the 2011/12 tour. Now, the baton passes to Kohli, who will take on Tagenarine Chanderpaul and etch his name alongside Tendulkar’s in this exclusive list.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul has displayed great potential in his young Test career, assuming the role of West Indies’ opening batsman. With an average of 45.30 after six matches, Chanderpaul has shown promising signs for his team and will provide a challenging competition for Kohli and the Indian bowling attack.

The Indian Test squad, led by Rohit Sharma, includes the likes of Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ajinkya Rahane, and the returning Virat Kohli. On the other hand, the West Indies squad for the first Test, captained by Kraigg Brathwaite, features players such as Jermaine Blackwood, Shannon Gabriel, and the talented Tagenarine Chanderpaul.
