INDIA. Mumbai: The Defence Ministry has empanelled six hospitals in the Vidarbha Region of Maharashtra to provide cashless medical treatment to ex-servicemen under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS).
These hospitals (Health Care Organisations (HCOs) are Punjabrao Deshmukh Memorial Medical College Hospital & Research Centre at Amravati, Acharya Vinoba Bhave Rural Hospital at Wardha, National Cancer Institute, Shri Bhavani Multispeciality Hospital & Research Institute, Lotus Hospital and Research Centre and Oke Eye Hospital at Nagpur.
The approval by the ministry is subject to these hospitals signing agreements with Regional Centre, ECHS, Nagpur, after which the referral /treatment can be commenced. Also, talks are on with other reputed hospitals for extending their services to ECHS members. Interested HCOs can mail to Regional Centres, ECHS atdirrcnagpur@echs.gov.in, which will facilitate them on the guidelines, as per the official statement.
There are already many empanelled hospitals with ECHS and are known for their expertise and commitment to healthcare who have joined hands with the government to extend their services to Ex-Servicemen. The new collaboration aims to ensure that they receive the best possible medical care and attention, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the nation.
The empanelled hospitals were chosen for their cutting-edge facilities, specialised divisions, and experienced medical personnel. Besides, the presence of empanelled HCOs at Amravati and Wardha will mitigate hardships faced by ex-servicemen who are otherwise required to travel to Nagpur for quality health care.
Members of the ECHS will have access to great healthcare without having to worry about the financial repercussions of cashless treatment. This initiative by HCOs will not only meet Ex-Servicemen’s healthcare requirements, but will also recognise their sacrifices and unshakable dedication to the nation. This momentous step is intended to acknowledge and support those who have committed their life to preserving our country and ensuring our safety, as per the officials.
