Tragic Bus Accident Claims 25 Lives, PM Modi and CM Shinde Offers Condolences

INDIA: A bus in Maharashtra lost control and bumped into a road divider, thus immediately catching fire. The tragic accident killed at least 25 people in western India.

When the bus encountered an accident at 1:35 am on the Samruddhi Mahamarg road while going from Nagpur to Pune, the diesel tank of the bus caught fire. Burning was the primary cause of death, according to media reports.

Devendra Fadnavis, the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, reported that 25 persons were killed and 8 were injured.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted separate tweets extending their condolences to the family and saying each family of the deceased would benefit from 700,000 Indian rupees as a concession.

Modi took to Twitter and wrote, “Deeply saddened by the devastating bus mishap in Buldhana, Mahrashtra. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to the affected.”

Unfortunately, 25 people have perished, and the deaths are more caused by the fire than the accident because all the bodies are burnt. Eight individuals managed to escape (from the bus), somehow managing to preserve their lives, according to police officials.

According to the police superintendent Sunil Kadasane, when the bus collided with the bridge, the diesel tank broke and spilled across the road.

The rescue team had reached the scene, and the survivors had been shifted to nearby hospitals. More updates about the incident are still awaited.
