The trailer begins by introducing Sheru (Nawazuddin), a struggling actor in Mumbai who is chasing his dreams. He goes out of the boundary lines to meet his daily needs. However, amid the hurdles, Sheru got a marriage proposal and the girl is Tiku (Avneet).

The trailer promised non-stop crackles as Nawaz’s life went through many ups and downs. But the twist came when he came to know that his better half also aspired to become an actor and wanted to shift to a big city. The two unusual people came under one roof and made ways to work their relationship.

Talking about the film to the media, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said that Tiku Weds Sheru is a comedy-drama that incorporates some of the difficulties that actual people encounter with a special love story. He continued that though they have quite distinct personalities, Tiku and Sheru share a same set of dreams.

He said that Sheru’s ability to personify the struggles encountered by people trying to succeed in the entertainment industry while yet being sympathetic, bringing his own unique eccentricities, and standing out as an endearing character is what most thrilled the actor about the character.

But, surprisingly, Kangana Ranaut, who launched herself as a producer through the film, revealed that the movie was originally titled “Divine Lovers” and was created six to seven years ago.

She also said that late Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan and the filmmaker already discussed the film as he was chosen for the key role. However, the film never came into the cards, and later she decided to revive it as Tiku Weds Sheru.

According to Kangana, this movie is a tender dedication and love letter to people who come to Mumbai as new comers, lose their aspirations somewhere along the way, but ultimately discover something much more profound. With that in mind, the team created Tiku Weds Sheru.
