Ukraine has imposed strict operational silence to prevent a counteroffensive from Russia, which it believes would recover large tracts of terrain and threaten the land bridge used to feed the occupied Crimean peninsula.
According to Russia, the counteroffensive commenced, and it was a disaster, with destroyed fighting vehicles and tanks created in the US and Germany.
The three villages of Blahodatne, Neskuchne, and Makarivka, which are situated on the border between the Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia districts, were liberated, according to Ukraine. Blahodatne and Storozheve are next to one other.
Makarivka is 5 kilometres (3 miles) from the front line and 90 km from the Russian land bridge on the Sea of Azov.
Although Blahodatne and Neskuchne had already been taken by Ukrainian forces, Russian military bloggers claimed that the fight for Makarivka was still ongoing.
Russia has erected fortifications to fight off an assault by Ukrainian forces supplied and trained by the West. The Ukrainian armed forces reported 25 clashes on the previous day near Bakhmut, Avdiivka, Maryinka, and Bilohorivka in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
According to a spokesperson, for the eastern military, Ukrainian forces have kept up their counterattack on Bakhmut’s flanks, driving Russian soldiers back by as much as 700 metres.
Russia claimed to have taken the damaged city last month, but both sides suffered significant losses in the previous week. Both sides claim that their forces have suffered significant losses at the hands of one another.
