AUSTRALIA: The debut album by American rock band Evanescence, “Fallen,” persists to be one of the most important documents of the turn of the century by getting multiple Grammy Awards and being released 20 years ago.
With Evanescence’s return to Australia this August and September to commemorate 20 years of “Fallen,” which was a commercial success, fans can now relish features from the gothic beauty of the 2003 debut release and a career-spanning set of fan favourites.
Evanescence is highly regarded for their mesmerising live show as much as they are for their suspenseful, potent, and sensual content. This marks the band’s first Australian tour since their sublime run with local symphony orchestras in 2018.
Fallen sold 10 million copies in the US alone, with more than 17 million copies sold worldwide, and officially acquired diamond certification in late 2022. It made its debut in the top 10 charts of several nations upon its release, including Australia and #1 in the UK.
Fallen, an album released in 2003, received a similar five nominations for the 2004 Grammy Awards and won Best Hard Rock Performance and Best New Artist. My Immortal, an album showcase with its orchestral and delicate melody, received a nomination the following year.
Fallen ultimately set the stage for a long-term legacy from the Arkansas-based group, who are now in full control of five studio albums, including 2021’s powerful and intimate release “The Bitter Truth,” which debuted at #3 on the ARIA chart. It was praised for Lee’s macabre tinge that set the band apart from their melodic metalcore contemporaries at the time.
In 2017, Evanescence released their fourth and most ambitious album to date, “Synthesis,” along with a global tour called “Synthesis Live,” which merged their intense live shows and classic songwriting with a potent live orchestra.
The band then unveiled “The Bitter Truth” in 2021, which reached the top 10 of innumerable international album charts and earned a spot on Best of 2021 release lists across the globe.
