INDIA. Mumbai: The high-profile case of Aryan Khan’s drugs-on-cruise again gets into the limelight. However, this time, the reasons are all commutated. The Mumbai NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede, who was handling the case of Khan, faced severe corruption charges. The central probe agency conducted raids at 29 locations across the country following leads associated to Aryan Khan’s case.
As per the CBI, Wankhede is accused of allegedly demanding Rs 25 crore in bribes for not defaming Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in the drugs-on-cruise case. Now, the officer claims that 18 probe agency officials raided his house in the presence of his wife and children. Thus he responded, “I am getting rewarded for being a patriot; yesterday, 18 CBI officials raided my residence and searched it for more than 12 hours while my wife and children were present in the house. They found Rs 23,000 and four property papers. These assets were acquired before I joined the service.”
The special case officer further stated that the CBI officials took the phone of his wife, Kranti Redkar, and recovered Rs 28,000 from his sister Yasmin Wankhede’s house and Rs 28,000 from his father, Dnyaneshwar Wankhede’s house.
Further, the officer expressed his concern and said, “A team of six officers raided my father’s house in Andheri and found nothing. Another team of seven CBI officers also raided my in-laws. Both my in-laws are old.” The agency raided 29 locations in Mumbai, Ranchi (Jharkhand), Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), and Delhi.
The government officer who raided the Cordelia Cruise and apprehended renowned actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan in an alleged drug case is now booked under Sections 7, 7A, and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, and Sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 388 (extortion by threat) of the Indian Penal Code.
