INDIA: Following the behemoth success of Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan is the next big pan-Indian featurette waiting to unload on big screens. Since the announcement clip of Atlee’s directorial film internet has been exploding with excitement for its arrival. After rumours of the movie’s delay went viral on social media platforms a few days ago, makers have now officially announced the new release date.
Jawan bags new release date and motion poster
SRK’s Jawan was set to release on June 2, 2023, marking the film’s debut on big screens in one month. However, no teaser or trailer was released, which made fans worry about the upcoming high-octane action feature. This flooded the internet with multitudes of rumours and speculation.
Now, Khan and the team announced the film’s new release date with the reveal of the new motion poster. SRK tweeted, “#Jawan #7thSeptember2023.”
The clip opens with musical maverick Anirudh Ravichander’s background score, evident in the announcement video. Following the BGM intro, the video sprinkles lighting and roaring clouds to elevate the experience. Then the moment arrives, a character like SRK (face not clearly visible) makes a soaring jump with a spear-like object and throws it towards the screen.
This is the first movie element makers shared with the fans since the announcement video. However, most fans were expecting a teaser or trailer release, but it appears they have to wait a little longer to witness this pan-Indian behemoth.
Keeping aside the new release date, a few months ago, a scene from Jawan leaked online. It depicted SRK beating goons with a belt in a stylish camera surrounding shot. The leaked clip grabbed massive attention, which gave spoilers of the feature’s storyline. Following the leaks, makers marched to Delhi High Court for immediate action. HC ordered websites and social media platforms to erase the clip.
Regarding Jawan’s storyline, multiple media reports hint that Atlee’s film is inspired by Kamal Haasan’s 1985 film Oru Kaidhiyin Diary (remade in Hindi as Amitabh Bachchan’s Aakhree Raasta).
However, when Jawan was announced in 2021, rumours circulated that the film’s storyline would loosely follow the Spanish hit Netflix series Money Heist, but as time passed, the news lost its gravity.
Since no official confirmation has been made from the makers regarding the plot, all the rumours can be considered speculation.
