INDIA: Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s 11-years old daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, have taken a bold step against false reporting about her health.
Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter took the legal route against a YouTube tabloid for circulating fake news about her health. The hearing for the same will take place on April 20.
Aaradhya Bachchan has sought an injunction against such fake reporting by some media platforms, and the court will hear her plea today. Now, the court has also ordered Google and YouTube to provide information about the infringers, such as contact information (phone number, email address, etc.). On behalf of Aaradhya, Dayan Krishnan, Ameet Naik, and Pravin Anand made an appearance in Delhi HC.
Ameet Naik of Anand and Naik said, “It is a landmark ruling on three counts: an injunction protecting a kid’s privacy, a prohibition on broadcasting false and fake news about a child that is damaging to a child, and a prohibition on defamation.”
“Children must be treated equally, whether they are celebrity children or not; the court has stated that intermediaries should have a zero-tolerance policy on such fake news that is harmful to a child, just as it does for child pornography,” Naik added.
Ever Since Aaradhya Bachchan’s initial appearance, the paparazzi have been continually focusing on her height, appearance, and other factors. Thus, nowadays, stars refrain from disclosing their toddlers to the media due to the harsh media coverage and constant fake rumours.
Recently, at the promotional event of Bob Biswas, Abhishek Bachchan lashed at media people and said, “While it is utterly inappropriate and will not be tolerated by me. I’m a public figure, which is good, but my kid is not. If you have something to say, say it to my face.”
