“I want to see these monsters back in jail & the key is thrown away. And I want this satanic government that applauds this travesty of justice voted out. I want India to reclaim her moral compass,” she tweeted.

On Saturday, the saffron party MP Jaswant Singh shared pictures from the government programme and wrote, “At Limkheda taluka of Dahod district, Kadana dam bulk pipeline-based Limkheda group water supply scheme under the estimated amount of 101.89 crore works was laid. Which 43 villages of Limkheda taluka, 18 villages of Singhwad taluka and 3 villages of Jhalod taluka will benefit from this scheme.”

The inhumane incident occurred in 2008, when 11 men were given life sentences for gangraping a 21-year-old Bilkis Bano who was five months pregnant at the time and killing seven members of her family, including her three-year-old daughter. Bano was also five months pregnant at the time. It took place during the riots in Gujarat that broke out after the assault on the Sabarmati Express.

The criminals were, however, released early in the year on Independence Day under the state government’s outdated remission policy of 1992. However, this judgement has been disputed before the Supreme Court, and the case will be heard on Monday, March 27, by a new bench that will include justices KM Joseph and BV Nagarathna. A number of petitions have also been submitted opposing the release of the rapists from the 2002 case.

TMC MP Mahua Moitra is among the petitioners who challenged the government’s decision, and she is making continuous efforts to ensure that the convicts are put behind bars.
