SPAIN: Pedro Sanchez, Spain’s Prime Minister, would visit China the following week, after the PM was formally invited by Chinese President Xi Jinping, with China endeavouring to etch its mark on the Ukraine-Russia war mediator that is continuing.

A source newspaper and Felix Bolanos, Minister for the Presidency, both wrote in a radio station newspaper that the invitation was real. Bolanos mentioned in the show, “The trip will take place next week. The weight that Spain and Pedro Sanchez have in the world is unquestionable.”

“China has a key role to play in mediating the war,” she added.

This would be an extremely crucial visit in terms of trade and economics as the Spanish Prime Minister would attend the Asia Pacific Forum and Spanish businesses that are handled in China.

During Jingping’s three-day visit to Moscow, the role China played in the conflict was called “impartial.” An elaborate ceasefire and 12-point-peace plan were introduced by Beijing.

As a member of NATO, Spain’s foreign policy is in direct sync with that of the United States, which has been a close supporter of Ukraine. In July, the US would also determine the presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Sanchez conveyed his “unconditional support” to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on the first anniversary of the end of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Sanchez also supported Ukraine’s peace proposal that deems it fit to bring back Ukraine’s area as it was before Russia’s 2014 seizure of Crimea.

On top of that, Sanchez will be taking part in the Boao Forum for Asia in the Hainan Province of China on March 30, before heading to Beijing the next day to meet Jinping about the G-20 summit in Bali, Indonesia, in 2022 November was the ground on which the two leaders got in touch with each other.
