UNITED STATES: Caroline Lucas, a Green Party MP, got extremely emotional in the House of Commons this evening, tearing off a copy of Suella Braverman’s Illegal Migrant Bill while the MP’s debate was ongoing.

A solid three minutes were taken by MP Caroline Lucas harshly criticising the extremely popular bill. According to the most recent polling, 42 percent of those polled supported the bill, while 25 percent opposed it.

Caroline Lucas said that the law-making body is “immoral and deeply cruel and divisive. It breaks international law, runs roughshod over human rights, and shames us all”.

The Green Party’s only MP earlier this evening made a speech at a demonstration outside the premises of the Parliament with Jeremy Corbyn, where she told the demonstrators that the refugee bill introduced by the government is “vile and morally repugnant,” adding, “In the words of British Somali poet Warsan Shire, no one puts their children in a boat unless the water is safer than the land; unless home is the mouth of a shark or the barrel of a gun.”

The left-leaned MP concluded her speech at the House of Commons with, “The Home Secretary, on the face of this bill, invites Parliament to rip up international law,” adding that, “the only act of a parliament that has some kind of moral integrity is to rip up her illegal and immoral bill, which has no place on our statute book.”

She tore a copy of the bill into four pieces after she inferred her speech, screwed the pieces of paper together, and hurled them at the Commons bench. A tweet that got a lot of recognition following this incident said, “What a waste of paper from the Green MP.”

The rally that took place at Parliament Square paved the way for a larger demonstration this Saturday that will start from the BBC building in central London and go to Downing Street.
