INDIA. Mumbai: The apex court of jurisdiction assigned Z-plus security to Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and his family members within the territory of India and abroad. The continuous threat perception evaluated by the Mumbai police and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) was decided by a bench presided over by Justice Krishna Murari and Ahsanuddin Amanullah. The high-profile family owns properties worth millions and runs the most successful businesses.
Meanwhile, Justice Murari and Amanullah in their statement said, “The highest Z+ security cover provided to respondent nos. 2 to 6 (Ambanis) shall be available all across India and the same is to be ensured by the State of Maharashtra and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Highest Level Z+ Security Cover, as per the policy of the Government of India, be also provided, while respondents nos. 2 to 6 are travelling abroad, and the same shall be ensured by the Ministry of Home Affairs.”
However, the entire cost of the security would be borne by Ambanis. According to the lawmakers, “the security cover provided, and that too at the expense of the respondents, cannot be restricted to a particular area or place of stay.”
The luxurious home of Amibai, Antilia, was bomb-scared by various calls last year, and there were numerous other occasions where the business magnate’s family was targeted. An application was filed by petitioner Bikash Saha demanding clarification of its July 22, 2022 order by which it had allowed the Center to continue with the security cover for Ambani and his family members in Mumbai.
The central government was ordered to place the original file kept by the Ministry of Home Affairs after the Tripura High Court addressed the PIL submitted by Bikash Saha. The court also issued two interim orders on May 31 and June 21.
After a detailed check of the threat prediction and assessment report, the court validated the security of business tycoon Mukesh Ambani, along with his wife and children.
