France: 16-year-old Student Stabs Teacher to Death 

The teacher died from cardiac arrest right after the emergency services arrived at the school

FRANCE: A teacher, who taught Spanish, has been stabbed to death by a high school student in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, a French town. The teacher was in her fifties and died from cardiac arrest right after the emergency services arrived at the school.

The private school is a Catholic establishment close to Saint-Jean-de-Luz, a famous summer holiday location. Olivier Veran, a French government spokesperson, testified the truth and confirmed the attack on Wednesday. He also said that the attacker was a 16-year-old.

The student was arrested by the police, who attended Saint-Thomas d’Aquin school along with a local prosecutor. A local newspaper stated that the attacker entered the classroom in the middle of the class that the teacher was taking and attacked her.

Students who had been told to remain in their classrooms could leave the school, and many students were accompanied by their parents from the school. A source mentioned that the attacker closed the classroom door and stabbed the teacher in her chest.

In the tweet, Pap Ndiaye, France’s Education Minister, shared his condolences, stating that his thoughts were with the teacher’s “family, colleagues and pupils.” He also said that he was on his way to the school. 

According to multiple reports, the student may have been going through mental health issues. In the initial stage of the investigation, there were no hints that the incident was related to terror.

Veran stated in a press conference that the government would support educators and teachers nationwide in light of this incident. He said, “I can hardly imagine the trauma that this represents.”
