INDIA/PAKISTAN: Former Pakistani batter Javed Miandad reacted angrily to recent events following the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting on Saturday (February 4, 2023) in Bahrain, where no decision was made on the hosting of the Asia Cup in 2023.

In his shocking remarks, Miandad claimed that Pakistan didn’t need India’s help and would be alright if Rohit Sharma’s team skipped Pakistan for the Asia Cup in September.

India and Pakistan have been at odds about who will host the Asia Cup in 2023 since Jay Shah, the secretary of the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) and president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), announced last year that the competition would be held at a neutral site rather than in Pakistan.

Despite the governing body’s official statement that “constructive” discussions on the Asia Cup were held during the meeting and that a final decision would only be made in March, sources claimed following the ACC meeting on Saturday that the tournament would be moved out of Pakistan and held in the UAE.

On the impending Asia Cup 2023, the ACC had a fruitful discussion. In order to ensure the success of the competition, the board decided to continue talking about operations, schedules, and any other specifics.

At a press conference in Pakistan, Javed Miandad criticised the International Cricket Council (ICC) for doing nothing to punish India for skipping Pakistan.

Javed Miandad criticised the International Cricket Council (ICC) at a press conference in Pakistan for doing nothing to penalise India for skipping Pakistan.

Miandad stated, “As I already indicated, India can go to hell if they do not wish to visit Pakistan. We don’t find it bothersome. The ICC is in charge of India’s participation. What good is the ICC as a governing body if it cannot control it?”

“It should have the same rules for all clubs, regardless of how powerful they are, if they do not meet their pledges. India is not a runner. It may be a superpower for itself, but not for the rest of the world or for us. Why don’t you come to Pakistan and play? The Indian people will not accept defeat at the hands of Pakistan,” Miandad continued.

“The ICC should take decisive action. Why are these things there if they can’t control them? The situation has to be resolved. To remedy this type of issue, the ICC should step in,” he concluded.

Ramiz Raja, a former head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), famously replied to the accusation by threatening that Pakistan would boycott the ODI World Cup.

The government of Pakistan will decide whether or not to send the senior men’s squad to India, according to newly appointed PCB chief Najam Sethi.

The BCCI has consistently argued that it will respect any decision the Indian government makes about whether or not to visit Pakistan.
