PM Modi to Inaugurate Mumbai Metro Lines 2A and 7 from Gundavali Station

INDIA: PM Modi will flag off the two parallel Mumbai Metro corridors, Lines 2A and 7 from Gundavali station. The foundation stone of the station was laid in 2015, but the project took a longer time to get completed. 

The much-awaited Metro Line 2A (yellow line) will now run from DN Nagar Andheri to Dahisar, whereas Line 7 (red line) will kick off from Dahisar East to Andheri East.

As per reports, the two lines of the metro will approximately cost Rs 12,600 crore. The yellow line Metro is around 18.6 km long and the red line Metro 7 is 16.5 km long. Both lines will be operational from January 20, 2023. 

On the 35-km section of Mumbai Metro Line 2A (Dahisar to DN Nagar) and Line 7, commuters will need to switch trains in order to travel between the two lines (Dahisar E to Andheri E). Furthermore, PM Modi will lay the groundwork for seven sewage treatment plants worth Rs 17,200 crore.

In its statement, the Prime Minister’s Office said, “Providing seamless urban mobility has been one of the key focus areas of the Prime Minister. In accordance with this, he will dedicate the Mumbai Metro Rail Lines 2A and 7 to the nation.”

Reports suggest Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will hold a joint review of Metro lines 2A and 7 at the Gundavali Metro station.

The following metro fares will cost Rs. 20 for a distance of 3–12 km and Rs. 30 for a distance of 12–18 km. The fare for 18–24 km will be Rs. 40, while the fare for 24–30 km will be Rs. 50.

As per the latest update, Modi will inaugurate the ‘Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Aapla Dawakhana’ to strengthen the health care infrastructure in Mumbai.
