INDIA. Delhi: AAP national convener and Delhi CM, Arvind Kejriwal, took a dig at the Modi-led government at AAP’s 11th National council meeting for maintaining trade relations with China amid the latest face-off in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh. The ministry urged the nation to boycott Chinese goods completely.

Kejriwal said, “This is the 21st century, and no country can take over the territory of another country. In the modern world, it is all about trade and economics. The day we show some courage and stop this $95-billion import, China will be put in its place.”

The minister requested the centre to impose a ban on Chinese imports and said, “I appeal to everyone to stop buying Chinese goods. I also want to appeal to the centre to not bow down before China.”

The meeting, which was held in Delhi, covered major issues and threats to India; thus, the central minister discussed the setbacks India is facing due to Chinese aggression. The major cause of inflation, unemployment and poverty in India is because of its reliability upon Chinese items, said the minister.

In the presence of Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann and various other top political leaders, the AAP chief said, “China has been threatening us for the last few years. Our jawans are bravely fighting the Chinese, and some have even made sacrifices.”

Backlashing at the centre, Kejriwal said, “We learn through social media that China has occupied our territories, but the central government is rewarding China. We are increasing our imports from China.”

The Delhi CM said that in 2020-21, $65 billion worth goods were imported from China and in 2021-22, India imported goods worth $95 billion from China. “In 2021-22, it reached up to 95 billion dollars. The count is huge, and China is making a huge profit from the Indian market,” he added.

Promoting the ‘Made in India’ movement, Kejriwal said, “Things like toys, slippers, and clothes are imported from China. We can also manufacture these items in our country. The centre is helpless. We do not need cheap Chinese goods. We are ready to pay a premium price for such products if they are made in India.”
