UNITED STATES: American rapper Megan Thee Stallion described her “shock” in emotional courtroom testimony on Tuesday, as a fellow rapper named Tory Lanez allegedly opened fire at her after a party in Los Angeles in July 2020. In Los Angeles, she told a jury, “I can’t believe I have to come here and do this.”

The Grammy-winning rapper claimed that after leaving Kylie Jenner’s house for a pool party, she was shot in the feet.

Jurors were informed that she insulted the defendant and demanded to be allowed out of a luxury vehicle before he opened fire with five shots at her.

The 27-year-old rapper, whose actual name is Megan Pete, said that her accused assailant turned violent when she disparaged his musical ability.

Megan Thee Stallion said that on July 12, 2020, during the incident in the Hollywood Hills, the 30-year-old defendant, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, had instructed her to “dance” before firing.

He denies many assault and firearms accusations stemming from an argument with Megan Thee Stallion. He could spend as much as 23 years behind bars if proven guilty.

“I’m shocked. I’m terrified. “When I hear the gun fire, I cannot believe that he is shooting at me,” she testified before the court on the second day of the trial on Tuesday, according to recent reports.

Megan Thee Stallion broke down in tears while testifying and expressed regret for ever coming forward about the incident.

She told the court, “I wish he would have just shot and murdered me if I knew I was going to have to go through this torture.”

Megan Thee Stallion left a blood trail at the scene before getting back into the car, which was stopped by cops a short while later.

Prosecutor Alexander Bott claimed in his opening statement that a gun that was still warm to the touch was located on the floor close to where Peterson had been sitting.

As per Megan Thee Stallion’s testimony, the Canadian hip-hop musician offered her $1 million to remain silent about the assault because he claimed to be on probation for a firearms offence. She initially told the police that she had cut her feet on glass.

But she claimed to the court on Tuesday that she had lied because she was worried about how the police would conduct themselves, particularly in the wake of widespread racial justice upheaval in the summer of 2020.

She said in court, “At the time, we were at the height of police brutality.” “I felt like if I reported that this man had just shot me, they could shoot first and ask questions afterwards.”

Shortly after the firing, a female acquaintance who was in the car messaged Megan Thee Stallion’s security team, saying, “Help… Tory shot meg.”

She told the investigating authorities that she had trouble walking in some shoes because some bullet fragments had been removed from her feet but some fragments remained.

Prosecutors stated that Peterson “profusely apologised for his crimes” and claimed he was “simply too drunk” during a phone call.

George Mgdesyan, his attorney, urged the jurors to retain an open mind and promised to show the claims to be untrue.
