GERMANY: The Rimac Nevera is now the world’s fastest electric production car, with a top speed of 412 km/h (258 mph).

The Automotive Testing Papenburg track in Germany served as the location for the top-speed run, confirmed by GPS data from the car.

The Nevera had run the quarter-mile in a record-breaking 8.582 seconds last year before setting this new top speed record.

The team used the ATP track due to its two four-kilometre-long straights. Miro Zrnčević, Rimac’s chief test and development driver was driving the Nevera.

The Nevera, for the record run, was set to its top speed mode. This mode generates an aerodynamic profile that strikes a dynamic balance between downforce and drag for improved high-speed stability.

The Nevera used the Michelin Cup 2R tires for the record-breaking attempt. The tires are road legal.

To reach V-MAX on the Racelogic V-Box during the record run, Miro wanted to get the perfect entry onto the straight from the banking. As the Nevera levelled out of the banking, it was already doing a speed of around 250kmph (155mph).

The four electric motors of the Nevera, designed in-house by Rimac, generate 1,914 horsepower. The 0-100 kph dash takes just 1.85 seconds.

The Rimac Nevera aims to break lap records on various racetracks worldwide after becoming the world’s fastest production EV car and fastest accelerating production car.

Rimac Automobili is a Croatian automobile company. It developed and produced the all-electric sports car Rimac Nevera. In August 2021, Rimac released the initial production prototype car.

The production of Rimac Nevera is limited to 150 units. Rimac intends to deliver the Nevera to customers in the middle of 2022 after the homologation crash tests finish successfully.
