INDIA: In a recent development, ex-IAS officer Shah Faesal made an impacting statement amidst the ongoing Opposition’s ‘Minority community Prime Minister’ politics row.

Recently, Rishi Sunak, an Indian-origin citizen, took charge as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, which raised instant controversies around the globe. People started raising questions if the same could ever happen in India.

Meanwhile, Faesal citing his journey, wrote on Twitter, “It’s possible only in India that a Muslim youngster from Kashmir can go on to top the Indian Civil Service exam, rise to top echelons of the government, then fall apart with the government and still be rescued and taken back by the same government.”

In another post, he directly took a dig at other Muslim countries by writing, “Rishi Saunak’s appointment might be a surprise for our neighbours where the Constitution bars non-Muslims from top posts in the Government, but Indian democracy has never discriminated ethnic and religious minorities from the rest. As equal citizens, Indian Muslims enjoy unthinkable freedoms.”

The Kashmir-based IAS has only good things to say about India and will be forever grateful to the country for being unbiased toward real talents. He underlines the fact that a 1.3 billion-person nation had always made him feel owned, appreciated, encouraged, and occasionally pampered.

Speaking of equality, he stated that India has always been a place of equal chances and a wide door open for everybody, from Maulana Azad to Dr. Manmohan Singh and Dr. Zakir Hussain to HE President Droupadi Murmu.

Faesal is an IAS topper from the 2009 batch. He came up as the first Kashmiri to top the Indian Civil Service examination. However, he soon resigned from the honorary post in protest against the Indian government in January 2019.

Faesal joined hands with the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM) party immediately after submitting his resignation.
