UNITED STATES: Logan Paul and Arnold Schwarzenegger are teaming up to launch the Slap Fighting Championship, which will occur early next month.
The YouTube star has been fighting since launching a successful YouTube boxing career, culminating last year when he fought against Floyd Mayweather.
New crazes in the fighting world have continued to emerge, such as professional pillow-fighting and outlandish matchmaking in boxing.
Paul and Schwarzenegger have announced an unlikely collaboration with promotion FanMio to stage the Slap Fighting Championship event.
PunchDown, a Polish slap-fighting promotion, will host the event as part of their ongoing efforts to provide a new platform for a “fast-rising” sport.
Paul previously collaborated with Fanmio, which assisted in broadcasting his successful exhibition with Mayweather, which sold approximately one million pay-per-views.
Schwarzenegger is well-known for his time in bodybuilding, where he won Mr. Universe five times before embarking on a hugely successful acting career.
The event will occur at the Arnold Sports Festival, founded in 1989 by the famous actor and businessman Jim Lorimer.
It was initially known as the Arnold Classic, but it has since been renamed, with fans expecting to see the slapping contest on the festival’s main stage.
Schwarzenegger is ecstatic about the new venture and can’t wait to “showcase” the new sport in front of his adoring fans.
“The Arnold Sports Festival is all about inspiring our fans to chase their dreams and discover the sport that will kickstart their fitness journey,” said Schwarzenegger.
“I can’t wait to bring the best slap fighters in the world to our event’s main stage, and I’m so excited to introduce this wild sport to our fans with Logan.”
Paul has made a name for himself as a social media sensation, amassing a fan base of over 100 million across all platforms.
He currently co-hosts the podcast Impaulsive with his two friends, Mike Majlak and George Janko.
The 26-year-old is ecstatic about his new venture and believes that slap fighting should be “legitimized” in the sporting world. “As someone who is always looking to be on the cutting edge of any discovery, it’s a thrill to see slap fighting gain legitimacy in the world of sport,” Paul said.
“It is a privilege to introduce these combat athletes to a global audience alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, Fanmio, and PunchDown.” Fans will not be dissatisfied!
This event will take place on March 5 and stream live on Paul’s YouTube and Facebook pages.
