INDIA: Netflix India is set to add new anime to the watch list; Drifting Home and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners are arriving on the streaming giant. Both anime features are set to debut in India, along with the global release.
Drifting Home and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners debuting on Netflix
Drifting Home is a full-length anime film developed by Studio Colorido. The anime film is set to arrive on Netflix with a global release on September 16. The streaming giant will also release the full-length film in India on the same day of its worldwide release.
The upcoming anime film’s ensemble cast includes Daiki Yamashita as Yuzuru Tachibana, Ayumu Murase as Noppo, Kana Hanazawa as Shuri Ando, Inori Minase as Reina Hama, Nana Mizuki as Satoko Tonai, Asami Seto as Natsume Touchi, Mutsumi Tamura as Kosuke Kumagai, Bin Shimada as Yasuji Kumagaya and Yumiko Kobayashi as Taishi Koiwai.
Hiroyasu Ishida directed Drifting Home and provided the story along with Hayashi Mori. Koji Yamamoto produced the film, and Umitaro Abe composed the music for the upcoming anime feature.
Drifting Home emerges as Studio Colorido’s first full-length anime film. Besides the Netflix release, the anime movie will also arrive in Japanese theatres on September 16. The film’s synopsis read, ‘’Follows two childhood friends who drift into a mysterious sea with an entire housing complex.’’
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is an upcoming anime series developed by Studio Trigger. The series is based on the Cyberpunk 2077 game by CD PROJEKT RED. Netflix India is also adding Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, though the release date for the anime is yet to be finalized.
The series voice cast includes Aoi Yuki as Lucy, Kenichiro Ohashi, Kenjiro Tsuda as Ripperdoc, Kazuhiko Inoue as Faraday, Wataru Takagi as Pilar, Hiroki Touchi as Maine, Tomoyo Kurosawa as Rebecca, Takako Honda as Kiwi, Yurika Hino as Gloria, and Michiko Kaiden as Dorio.
Hiroyuki Imaishi helmed the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. The director is known for Gurren Lagann, Promare, and Kill la Kill.
The anime synopsis read, ‘’A Street Kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an Edgerunner a Mercenary outlaw also known as a Cyberpunk.’’
