UNITED STATES: Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, pleaded guilty to misdemeanour charges of DUI in connection with a collision that happened in California’s wine country in May.
Judge Joseph Solga of the Napa County Superior Court stated that Paul Pelosi had served two days in jail and had been given conduct credit for two additional days. Paul Pelosi did not attend Paul Pelosi’s sentencing, but Solga said that Paul Pelosi would spend eight hours in the court’s labour program in place of the remaining day.
Unless the court rules otherwise, state law permits defendants charged with a minor DUI to appear through their attorney.

Paul Pelosi will also have to install an ignition interlock device, which requires a breath sample before the engine starts, and complete a three-month drinking driver program as part of his probation. The judge also ordered him to pay fines totalling almost $7,000.
After an accident on May 28 in Napa County, north of San Francisco, Pelosi was taken into custody after a DUI test revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.082%, slightly over the legal limit.
According to the complaint, when police arrived on the collision scene after 10 p.m. near the town of Yountville in the wine region, they discovered Pelosi inside a 2021 Porsche Carrera and the other driver standing outside a sport utility vehicle.
California Highway Patrol officers noted that Pelosi was “unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred, and he had a distinct stench of an alcoholic beverage.”
The complaint claims that Paul Pelosi gave authorities his driver’s license and an “11-99 Foundation” card when questioned for identification.
The other driver informed the district attorney’s office’s investigators that his upper right arm, right shoulder, and neck hurt the day following the collision. He also claimed that he had headaches.
Paul Pelosi was arrested and later freed on a $5,000 bond. At the time, Speaker Pelosi was in Rhode Island for the commencement speech at Brown University. Her staff declined to respond to questions.
