UNITED STATES: The ongoing battleship between Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss is taking new twists and turns. With each passing day, both the candidates are approaching their steps closer to becoming the next UK Prime Minister. In the ongoing process, senior cabinet minister Sir Robert Buckland shows a clear shift in his mindset.
Suddenly, the foreign delegate has chosen Foreign Secretary Liz Truss over former Chancellor Rishi Sunak. “As the campaign has moved on, and as I have listened carefully to both candidates, I have thought deeply about the issues that move me and what I want to see the next Prime Minister doing,” Buckland said.
According to Robert Buckland, Liz Truss is the more suitable and deserving candidate for the supreme hierarchy to uphold the Prime Ministerial status. He said Truss is the “right person to take the country forward”, and her plans are highly impactful and taken on behalf of the country’s “high-growth, high-productivity economy”.
He made it clear that during the initial parliamentary discussions, Conservative Party MPs decided on the final two candidates; the Indian origin was “embodying what we needed”.
The senior cabinet minister continued saying, “As the campaign has moved on, and as I have listened carefully to both candidates, I have thought deeply about the issues that move me and what I want to see the next Prime Minister doing.”
“Changing your mind on an issue like this is not easy, but I have decided that Liz Truss is the right person to take the country forward,” he added.
The minister writes, “I know both candidates well and have worked with them in government and Cabinet… I have looked at ideas and principles first and personalities second. Her (Truss) plans give us our best shot at reaching our potential with the high-growth, high-productivity economy that we need to get us out of this crisis and protect ourselves from the next.”
