INDIA: On the first day of its release, Ek Villain Returns had a mediocre box office performance. The box office for the feature is exactly what the trade expert expected. On its debut day, the action-thriller earned approximately ₹ 6-7 crores.

The action-thriller film is a spiritual sequel to the 2014 successful film Ek Villain. Except for a few references to Riteish Deshmukh’s character, the sequel has no resemblance to the original film.
The film stars John Abraham, Disha Patani, Arjun Kapoor, and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles. Mohit Suri contributed his directorial vision to the film, as well as co-writing the story with Aseem Arora. Ekta Kapoor, and Bhushan Kumar produced the film across their production companies Balaji Motion Pictures and T-Series.
The action thriller debuted with an average start at the box office
Ek Villain Returns met the trade analyst’s expectations. On its opening day, the action-thriller feature earned roughly ₹ 7.05 crores. According to trade experts, the second film’s box office collection was expected to be between ₹ 6-7 crores nett.
Trade expert Sumit Kadel unveiled the info on the box office collection of the film. He tweeted, “As expected, #EkVillainReturns is doing good amongst the masses … the film is registering solid occupancy in single screens in B & C centres… Opening day figure would be in the range of 6-7 cr nett & if night shows goes strong then even 8 cr is a possibility…”
Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#EkVillainReturns reaps the benefit of franchise factor, opens better at single screens of mass pockets and Tier-2 centres… Metros – especially national chains – need to gather momentum… Day 2 and 3 crucial… Fri ₹ 7.05 cr. #India biz.”
At the box office, the sequel hasn’t even matched the performance of the first feature, Ek Villain. The film’s opening frame brought in ₹ 16.5 crores nett, making it a box office success. The first instalment was a remake of the Korean movie I Saw the Devil (2010).
